Why Zabbix is better than Nagios? I`m thinking about going for Zabbix
IMO there is no comparison between Nagios and Zabbix. Zabbix wins hands down. Having working with Zabbix since 1.4 it has evolved into a great product and the features coming into 2.x are amazing.
Some features that zabbix has that Nagios is lacking
- Auto Registration
- Auto Discovery (agent devices, snmp, etc..)
- Aggregate Graphs (this is very useful when looking at the overall picture)
- Distributed Monitoring
- Windows Service Discovery (coming in 2.x)
- Native JMX Support (coming in 2.x)
There are many other features that Nagios just doesn't have not to mention the ease of use.
Which is the best network monitoring tool: Nagios or Zabbix?
Regards,
Akshay
Having worked with Nagios for many years ( I was involved with developing the NSClient++ ), switching to Zabbix was a breath of fresh air. Despite the the lack of active directory synchronization which I really miss, it's a all-one-solution. Nagios still has a hosts.cfg and checks.cfg file which can become quite lengthy (thousands of lines..) and if you make ONE typo...good luck...
Back in the day you had to install Nagios, Monarch (the web service), RRD tool (it's easier to launch a rocket into space than to learn RRD)...
